COLLECTORS NOTES:
Batman begain on TV in January of 1966. The ABC program came to an end in September 1967. Adam West played Bruce-Wayne (Batman) and Burt Ward played Dick Grayson (Robin).
The program was adapted from cartoonist Bob Kane's character which first appeared in comic-book format in Detective Comics (1939).
The TV program was an overnight success when it premiered. Story lines spanned two evenings Wednesday and Thursdays 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. The stories were in two parts with the Wednesday portion ending like a serial with the heros in great danger.
By the fall of 1967, the novelty wore off, the ratings fell, and the program came to an end.
