Daktari began on television on January 11, 1966 and lasted until January 15, 1969. It was a CBS program, Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 8:30.
The program was filmed in Africa, U.S.A., a wild-animal park in Los Angeles. Daktari is a native African word for "doctor". The story line for the show was about an animal doctor in Africa. Dr. Marsh Tracy (Marshall Thompson) is a veterinarian who, with his daughter, Paula Tracy (Cheryl Miller) studies and cares for African animals.
