Flipper started on TV on September 19, 1964. It ended on September 1, 1968.

The NBC program was seen mainly on Saturday nights from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.. Brian Kelly played Porter Ricks, Luke Halpin was Sandy Ricks, and Tommy Norder was Bud Ricks. Porter was the chief ranger for Coral Key Park, Florida. He was a widower with two sons. Together they protected the resources of the park. The dolphin, Flipper, was a friend and helper in the weekly adventures. Flipper was played by a dolphin named Suzy.
