| LYNN BOOKS¨ | |||||||||
| 1935 - 1936 | |||||||||
| There were 19 titles produced by the Lynn Publishing Company of New York from 1935 to 1936. The titles began in mid 1935 and ended by the fall of 1936. They were released under the trademark A Lynn Book¨ and were numbered consecutively, beginning with #10. Each number was preceded by the letter L (for Lynn). A simple logo was made up of the trademark within a double-ring circle. | |||||||||
| The books drew their content from motion pictures (10 titles), newspaper comic strips (7 titles), and original work (2 titles). | |||||||||
| All the books had hard covers that were printed with different four-color illustrations on the front and back covers. Some of the illustrations were photographs from the motion pictures, others were illustrated by artists. The books were produced in two sizes and three lengths. Thirteen titles were 192 pages in length and were 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 7/8" in size. They followed the standard format which alternated black and white illustrations opposite each page of text. The inside of the front cover was printed with a very large (two page) book plate that could be signed by the owner of the book. Two titles, Blondie and Dumb Dora, were 94 pages long and 5" x 7 1/2" x 5/8" in size. These books contained illustrations on every page, and most of the illustrations were printed in four-colors. The remaining books were 128 pages long and 5" x 7 1/2" x 5/8" in size. Their format was like those in the 192 page length. All the books were stitched so that each book would lay flat when opened. | |||||||||
